What happens when you bring multiple disciplines that cross public, private and non-profit sectors together to network, share assets and dream about a more prosperous and healthy community for all? You realize that everyone has something to contribute toward community capacity building, and that cooperation among  diverse groups is the best way to set social problem solving into action!

What will Fredericton Social Innovation Do?

This group will have the capacity to:

- coordinate action on shared community social goals towards tangible results.
- create a local database that will help measure engagement and awareness for shared social issues.
- map out hidden assets and mobilize them in support of community social innovation.
- act as a catalyst for broader community engagement on social issues.
- simplify and maximize the true value of time, talents and resources of constituent members.

How will it get done?

Fredericton Social Innovation has high ambitions which will require focus, determination and excellence. The following principles will be applied to FSI's work:
1. Diverse distributed leadership & broad community inclusion: An inclusive membership will facilitate access to a wide variety of ideas, skills and assets needed to tackle the complex social issues facing our community.
2. Flexibility and action oriented community leadership: An innovative "constellation" governance model will ensure that FSI does not get get bogged down by process and stalled by  bureaucratic inefficiencies. FSI will remain dynamic and adaptive to community opportunities and needs as they arise. 
3. Open minds, open space & open source: FSI will focus on convening civic engagement opportunities to foster a discourse on social innovation & planning in Fredericton. Fredericton Social Innovation will also adhere to a "creative commons" and "open source" philosophy by ensuring its resources remain public and accessible to all.  
4. A commitment to excellence, responsibility & discipline: Some people say "if everyone is responsible, then no one is responsible. This is simply not the case with Fredericton Social Innovation. This group is driven by a culture of excellence, and is committed to seeing projects through to completion.
